Good Mourning: Taking your sorrow to the Savior- Week 1
The reading plan will take our church family through the entire text of the book of Lamentations twice during our six-week sermon series. On Mondays the reading plan invites the reader to cover the entire chapter (usually 22 verses). On Tuesday and Wednesday, it breaks the chapter down into smaller segments. Then on Thursday and Friday, readings are taken from a personal Psalm of Lament or a corporate Psalm of Lament.
Week 1- Lamentations 1
Three Questions for Consideration
With every biblical passage there is much for the reader to consider—things like cultural context, the people involved, the location, and the message that’s being communicated.
All of these things should be considered before we move to personal application of the biblical truth presented in the text. Once we have considered these foundational aspects of a biblical passage, that’s when we can move to personal application.
One helpful way to allow the truth of Scripture to mold and shape our lives is to consider the following questions as we seek personal application:
UP: What does this communicate about the character of God?
IN: How does this encourage me to live in relationship with the Family of God?
OUT: How does this influence me to intentionally live on mission and reach others with the Gospel?
