Ever-Present Praise | Psalm 149

Assembly Required: Week 3- Day 5
Big Idea: Our songs display our joy over God’s joy over us

Philippians 4:4-9

4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. 5Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
Three Questions for Consideration

With every biblical passage there is much for the reader to consider—things like cultural context, the people involved, the location, and the message that’s being communicated.

All these things should be considered before we move to personal application of the biblical truth presented in the biblical text. Once we have considered these foundational aspects of a biblical passage, that’s when we can move to personal application.

One helpful way to allow the truth of Scripture to mold and shape our lives is to consider the following questions as we seek personal application:

UP: What does this communicate about the character of God?
IN: How does this encourage me to live in a relationship with the Family of God?
OUT: How does this influence me to intentionally live on mission and reach others with the Gospel?
