“To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability.” Matthew [25:15]
Have you stolen anything this week? Many of us have done so without even realizing it. One of the most prominent ways that we steal is by not utilizing the gifts that God has given to us. Whether the gift is some free time, a special skill, or financial gain, God desires that we would use our gifts for His purposes.
Here are three practical ways that we can guard against stealing from God:
» Time – Are you robbing God by not spending time with Him? Not coming to Him in prayer? Not investing in reading His Word?
» Talent – Are you robbing God and His Kingdom by failing to use the gifts He has given you for His Kingdom purposes?
» Treasure – Are you a robbing God by not giving faithfully (Malachi [3:10]) a portion of what He first gave to you?
God has blessed us with these three things (Time, Talent, and Treasure) for His purposes and for His glory. When we take an open-handed, open-hearted posture before God and His church with these three important gifts—God never gets cheated.
The life of a believer should be marked by worshiping our Holy God by giving back to Him what He first gave to us—our time, our talent, and our treasure. Is this true of you? Or have you stolen from God this week?
Heavenly Father, all that I have comes from you. Thank you! Please help me never to steal from you. May I worship you by giving you the best of my time, my talent, and my treasure. Amen
