Christmas Through Fresh Eyes Week 1- Day 3

Lynn Bettes Christmas Through Fresh Eyes Devotional

“In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ”. 1 Peter 1:6-7

There are treasures that can only be revealed through treacherous seasons.

The ways of Jesus have shown us that when our Father has allowed difficult challenges and trials we can be assured that there is greater joy and satisfaction as an outcome. Isaiah prophesied that it would be the will of God to crush the Messiah, for through the suffering servant many would be made right with God. Our verse today assures us that various trials in our lives can result in greater praise and honor to God.

In the moment of our struggle, we can find it difficult to understand how God can be more glorified, and we can have deeper joy as a result of the trial than if we had avoided the trial altogether. Scripture reveals the anchoring truth that when God’s will allows the trial, an outcome more precious than gold will be revealed.

Are you grieved by a trial or challenge that you wish God would remove? Take a moment to thank God for the greater glory He will receive as you faithfully trust Him during the storm. Rejoice that God will not waste this experience but will grow and deepen your faith in Him.

Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine. Thank you for the priceless outcome of spiritual growth that you are producing in me. Cause me to be faithful through the storm. Amen.
