“On this mountain the Lord of Hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine, of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined.” Isaiah 25:6
The joy of salvation is for ALL people.
Christmas is primarily known as a joyful holiday. Even more than a day, it’s actually a season. The traditions, shopping, lights, holiday food, and music provide a nostalgia resulting in the reputation of being “the most wonderful time of the year.” But for some, it’s quite the opposite. While some are caught up in the magic, there are others in pain.
The holiday season reminds many of what they lack—sufficient finances, secure housing, or healthy relationships. It reminds them of an inability to provide gifts, a tree, and even food.
But God! While the world waits for Jolly Old St. Nick, thank God Christmas is so much more! Christmas is the celebration of a baby born, the wonder of God come to Earth, the promise of Isaiah 700 years prior here…Messiah! The greatest gift that is for ALL people is Jesus, our Savior and King. May the reality of this truth compel us to action this Christmas season!
Father, thank you for the gift of Jesus, my salvation! Cause me to be generous and loving to those around me, especially the friends and neighbors who have yet to experience the joy of knowing you. Amen.
