“And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Luke [2:10]-11
“Good news of great joy!”
Something seems to be happening in my friend-group—many are having kids! Keeping up with who’s pregnant, due dates, and making the rounds to welcome the newborns has become a full-time job. One of my favorite parts of the pregnancy of friends is the pronouncement of birth when the baby finally arrives! Incredible pictures and thoughtful posts flood social media. The excitement is contagious!
Imagine the excitement of heaven, when the angels appeared to the shepherds with the pronouncement of Christ’s arrival. Since creation, the angels had been watching God’s plan of redeeming the broken world unfold. Faithfully performing the Father’s bidding, they now announced to a most intriguing choice of recipients the entrance of God himself to earth.
Born this day in the city of David, for ALL people, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
Merry Christmas! Take a moment today to reflect on the greatest news, Jesus Christ is born!
Jesus, I honor you today. In the chaos of family, food, presents, and games, I take time to pause and reflect on you, my greatest gift. Make me an influence to those around me today as I live to reflect the reality of salvation in my life.
