“It will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the Lord; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.” For the hand of the Lord will rest on this mountain.” Isaiah 25:9-10a
Jesus’ salvation shapes our message.
I’ll never forget how the Christmas season changed for me once I became a disciple of Christ. Before my conversion, the Christmas Eve service was the last thing I wanted to do, especially with my mind already dreaming of the next morning with the tree loaded with gifts.
After my eyes were opened to the excitement that following Jesus brings, my anticipation of Christmas became radically different. I was excited to serve others, to give, even to attend Christmas Eve service with my family!
The reality of my salvation was beginning to change everything about me, specifically my mission. My mission had always been about me, about what made me happy and comfortable. My mission began to shift in real time as I stepped into more of what Jesus was revealing to me. While not quite as quick as Ebenezer Scrooge, I was changing.
Christmas Eve and Christmas morning have passed, but God’s desire to change your life-mission continues. Press into the reality of your salvation and allow God to change your life. Are you living for the mission of becoming more like Jesus in how you live and think? Is his mission of bringing others to the joy of knowing him becoming your mission?
Jesus, thank you that your gift of salvation starts right here, right now. Please help me to become more aware of my reality as a citizen of Heaven living here on Earth, and how you want that to shape the way I live and love others! Amen.
