Community in Action Week 6- Day 4

Lynn Bettes Community in Action Devotional

“praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints…” Ephesians [6:18]

There are probably numerous objects that you use every day in the wrong way. For example, did you know that the take home Chinese food container was designed to be unfolded and used as a plate? The tab you use to open a can of pop was designed to be a straw holder. Or the hole in your pasta spoon is meant measure one portion of spaghetti.

These are all genius tools that many people never knew how to use. In the Christian life there is one powerful tool that God gives that is often overlooked and underutilized. The most powerful tool available to the Christian is the power of prayer. When engaging in spiritual warfare not only do you need to put on the armor of God, but you need utilize the power of prayer. Prayer is available to us at all times.

Too many times Christians are guilty of trying to fight the spiritual battle on their own without giving a second thought to praying. When faced with a spiritual battle is your first response to try and fix it? Prayer should be your first response not your last resort. Pray for yourself but also pray for others as they engage in spiritual battles.

Dear God, thank You so much for the gift of prayer. Thank You for hearing me when I pray and thank You for interceding when I ask. Please forgive me for the times that I didn’t pray first. Help me to always pray first. Amen.

1 Thessalonians [5:16]-18
