Drift Week 6- Day 2

Lynn Bettes Drift Devotional

“And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: ‘The words of him who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. ‘I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead.’” Revelation 3:1

Has anyone revealed a blind spot to you before?

A blind spot is an area in your life that you had no idea was a problem. One of the most gracious actions of a true friend is speaking the truth in love regarding a blind spot. Although we had never noticed the shortcoming or had believed something completely different, a true friend helps us to see ourselves more accurately by exposing the shortcoming.

This is what was happening in the Church of Sardis. They had a huge blind spot that had been hidden from them and they had appeared to be a church that is alive. The all-knowing, loving Savior revealed to the church at Sardis their blind spot.

The reality is that Jesus knows what is behind our reputation and there is nothing that can be hidden from Him. Is there a blind spot that God is trying to reveal to you today? Ask Him to search your heart. Respond humbly and allow His Spirit to produce change in you.

Father in Heaven, grant me the vision to see the blind spots in my life. God, please reveal to me if I am living sinfully in an area and I have fooled everyone including myself. Lord, reveal these areas to me and change me. Amen.
