“Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you.” Revelation 3:3
Throughout the last week we have seen a church that looks alive but is dead.
Is it possible for that church to become alive again? Yesterday we looked at how God calls the church to wake up! Now Jesus gives another instruction: “Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent.”
Jesus takes the Church of Sardis back to the Gospel. He instructs them to remember what they had received and heard. Remember that you are not your own, but you were bought with a price. Remember that you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Remember that Christ is your LORD and the Ruler of your life.
If you have forgotten the Gospel that you received and heard, and are living for the ways or values of this world, turn back from that way of life and repent. If you have grown cold in your faith, remember the beauty of the sacrifice that Christ paid for your sins. We must remember the Gospel and preach it to ourselves daily!
Heavenly Father, help me never to forget the Good News that I have received and heard. Help me to never forget the sacrifice You made on the cross. Help me to live a life that reflects the Gospel of Jesus every day. I once was lost but You found me. Amen.
