“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.” Ephesians 1:3-4
Elementary school gym class can be traumatizing.
Do you remember that awkward moment when students are asked to line up against the wall so the captains can pick their teams? This proves to be either a popularity contest or the measuring stick for the top 3rd grade athletes. The trauma comes when both team captains are down to the last few spots on their team, and you still haven’t been picked. That’s when you hear those painful words: “Fine. Come on. We’ll be stuck with you.”
Thankfully, this isn’t what happens with the Lord. And that’s incredible! Because of God’s grace, we have the opportunity to praise the Father for adopting us. Not only are we on His team, but we are sons and daughters of the highest! It is through this adoption that we call Him our Father and our Lord.
The next time you have that feeling of being left out, that you’re not good enough, that no one has picked you—pause, and take a moment to praise our Father. You have been adopted, without hesitation. You have reason to praise. God is so good!
Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me and adopting me into Your family. Sometimes, I forget the love that You have for me. Thank You for another chance to praise You today. You are a good Father! Amen.
