“After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’” Revelation 7:9-10
Have you been on a short-term mission trip with Woodside Bible Church?
It can be hard to verbalize the full range of emotions that stream through you when you are in a different country and you stand alongside brothers and sisters in Christ during worship. You will hear:
“Jesús es el Señor”
“Jésus est le Seigneur”
“Jezus is de Heer”
“An Tiarna Íosa”
“Gesù è il Signore”
It’s possible that, right now, you don’t know where to start in pronouncing other translations for “Jesus is Lord.” Maybe you read, “Jesús es el Señor” and skipped to the next English word. Once you have participated in short term missions, though, you will forever know the sound of hearing Jesus praised in another language.
What is often overlooked, even when you’re on the trip, is that what you’re experiencing is a snapshot of heaven. In Revelation, we read that a great multitude will gather from every tribe, nation, and tongue. The grace that we have all received is to praise God. Imagine the sound of the nations singing out, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”
Father in Heaven, thank You for the salvation I have in Jesus. Thank You for allowing me to be part of every nation praising You. Continue to soften my heart toward Your mission. Amen.
