Identity Crisis Week 2- Day 2

Lynn Bettes Identity Crisis Devotional

“…that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ…may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints…” Ephesians [1:17]-19

As a follower of Christ would you agree that your greatest desire is to know God? Would you also agree that your second greatest desire is to know His will for your life? If so, look at the promises detailed in the passage again. It is possible for the believer to know God and know His will!

According to this text, we know God and His will through the illumination of the Spirit. This is exactly what Paul prays for the Ephesian believers. He prays that the Spirit would help them know God and open their eyes to see His calling or will for their lives.

When we ask to know God and His will, many times the illuminating process will not be like walking into a dark room and having the lights immediately turned on so you can see everything.

More times than not, the Spirit illuminates God and His plans like a sunrise. Where slowly the darkness and blindness fades, and as the light appears, we are able to see the path that lies before us.

Do you desire to know God and His will for your life? Then continually pray that the Spirit will open your eyes and your heart to know God and His will.

Lord, thank You for the amazing gift of Your Spirit. I pray today that the Spirit would help me to know You more deeply and discern Your will more clearly. Amen.
