“This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him.” Ephesians [3:11]-12
Do you ever feel unworthy? Do you feel as though you don’t deserve the things you have received in life? Whether it’s a lofty compensation package from your corporation, the honors given to you for your incredibly freelance work, or the favor you have with your professional peers—you just don’t feel as though you’ve earned it. Truth is; you haven’t!
This is one of the best parts of being a follower of Christ—it’s not about earning anything. Not the mercy. Not the grace. And certainly not the forgiveness. Followers of Jesus have not earned anything we have received. We are unworthy of what we’ve been given by our gracious God.
Yet, God, in His goodness, has blessed all who have faith in His Son. He has graciously provided us with abundantly more than we can imagine.
We can walk in the newness of life. (Rom. 6:4)
We can live without fear. (2 Tim. 1:7)
We can pray to God freely. (Eph. [3:12])
These are all realities that believers experience through faith in Jesus. Not because we are worthy, but because Jesus is, through his suffering and glory! And only through our faith in Christ do we get to experience these amazing realities.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your son, Jesus. For it is in Him that I have everything. I am unworthy, and yet You give me love, and life, and grace. May I live in a way that reveals my gratitude. Amen.
