Identity Crisis Week 6- Day 4

Lynn Bettes Identity Crisis Devotional

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians [3:20]-21

Praying that God gets the glory changes the way we see the world.

Consider your prayer life for a moment. What is your focus when you pray? God empowers us to find joy in all circumstances because our identity is in Christ and not found in our circumstances. God desires that we present all our needs to Him through prayer because of the relationship we have with Him in Christ. However, it’s easy to lose the bigger picture when we pray.

Our prayers can easily become focused on our circumstances rather than on God. Our prayers can fall into a cycle where we are seeing God as a gift-giver instead of our Creator, Friend and Father.

When we pray bigger and ask God to transform and move within our communities and workplace, it changes the way we see the world. We begin to see the world from God’s perspective. Then we see Him do far more than we ask or think!

As God transforms the world around us through prayer, we begin to see Him fulfill our desires for transformation as He makes us more like Himself. In this way, by praying for God’s glory, we actually begin to see Him fulfill our greatest desires. So, let’s pray for His glory, and trust Him to care for us.

Father, give me a heart for Your glory in everything. Make me shine brightly as I point to you. Amen.

Ephesians [6:18]-20
