Rather than focusing on the fact that her son no longer lived with her, Hannah chose to focus on the blessing she had received from God. She continued to minister to her son because she remembered how God had faithfully ministered to her.
Your life is littered with signposts of God’s faithfulness, too. When we’re tempted to focus on what we don’t have, we should follow Hannah’s example by remembering what we do have. We should be mindful of what God has already done in our lives. God is always faithful!
» He would have remained faithful even if Moses kept herding sheep. Because Moses was faithful to be God’s representative in Egypt, he got a front row seat to a huge demonstration of God’s power!
» God would have been faithful even if Daniel hadn’t been courageous to keep praying when told to stop. Because Daniel was faithful, he got to experience God’s faithfulness in the lion’s den.
» God would have been faithful even if Peter hadn’t walked on water. Because Peter was faithful to step out of the boat, he got to see God’s faithfulness in a way the other disciples didn’t.
God has demonstrated His faithfulness to you in the past to give you a firm foundation for your faith today. So be faithful in all you do. In your faithfulness, God will show you His faithfulness in ways you’ve never experienced before!
Father, today I want to step forward in faith and be faithful with the blessings that I have received from you. Help me to remember your faithfulness as I embrace the future that you have for me. Amen.
