“Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him. And he opened his mouth and taught them…” Matthew 5:1-2
If you had one moment to share with the entire world the most important things in life, what would you say? I’d want to mention love, justice, forgiveness, truth, etc. Why would my heart be so full? Because there is so much we need in this world. We are fractured, lost, and seemingly hopeless.
As we begin our sermon series focusing on the Sermon on the Mount, what we are reading is a moment in time where Jesus shared his heart. And what He shared reveals to us what He believes is the best possible way to live in the world. He outlines the way to thrive and flourish!
In this famous sermon, Jesus provides for us a deeper understanding of the Kingdom of God, and how is it that believers can live with Kingdom awareness in the everyday moments of life.
In a world where God’s voice can be hard to hear, let alone understand, we can listen in as Jesus shares what the Kingdom of God looks like and steps for us to live it out. May I encourage you to ask God to prepare your heart for what lies ahead in this sermon series and in this devotional booklet.
Jesus, thank you for coming to earth and sharing your own words with me. May your Spirit open my heart and mind as you speak to my heart. I want to know more of who You are, and more of your Kingdom life here on earth. Remove distractions and do a work in my heart as I engage with your Sermon on the Mount. Amen.
