Misread Week 7- Day 5

Lynn Bettes Misread Devotion

“…it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.” Hebrews [9:27]-28

How many times have you heard someone say, “You’re not the judge of me!”? This statement is, in fact, true! Believers are not the ultimate judge of another. That responsibility falls at the feet of our Holy God.

In his second letter to the church in Corinth, Paul writes, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.” (2 Cor. [5:10])

At this judgment, there will be two verdicts:

» Guilty – Condemned to an eternity apart from a loving God in Hell.
» Not Guilty – Ransomed by the sacrificial blood of Jesus on the cross.

While judgment is coming for all—there is hope! Hope because Jesus died to pay the penalty for all who believe in Him. Jesus gave up his life upon the cross to provide salvation to all who place their faith in Him.

What will be the verdict of your judgment?

If you have placed your faith and trust in Jesus Christ your eternity is full of hope! Your judgment will be a joyous time because you’re covered by the blood of Jesus. If you’ve never surrendered your life to Jesus, judgment will not be a time of celebration. In the following prayer, you can place your faith in Jesus today!

Gracious God, I acknowledge that I’m a sinner. Today, I repent of my sin. Please forgive me. Jesus, I believe that you died on the cross to save me from my sin. I place my faith in You. Make me new! Amen.
