“Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” 1 Peter [2:10]
The redemption that believers experience through Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection makes us different. Once we were not a people, but now we are the people of God. Once we were stuck in sin, but now we are redeemed people who have the Holy Spirit guiding our lives!
This is a reality worth talking about and sharing with those who have experienced the same redemption. It’s worth sharing a meal together to discuss what God has done in your life, and to hear what He’s done in the lives of others.
In a world that is increasingly lonely, the importance of sharing life with other believers cannot be over-stated. Believers understand where we’ve been, and where we’re going. We understand the struggles to remain true and pure in a world that values neither truth nor purity. We understand that receiving God’s mercy and grace compels us to offer the same to others.
If you have experienced redemption in Jesus Christ, you are now among the people of God. And as the people of God, seek out others who’ve experienced the same redemption, and then share life together. Your spiritual life, and the spiritual lives of your friends, will be richer for having done so.
Lord, may I not overlook the importance of sharing my life with other believers. Please give me the courage to open my life to others. Provide me with relationships with other believers so we can encourage each other. Amen.
