The Countdown Today we woke up with a bittersweet feeling because it was our last day of ministry in Rome....
Thank you for your prayers. The Quebec Team arrived back home safe and sound at 2am this morning!!
This message is from Pastor Dom Ruso at the180 Church:
Muscles grow when we use them. It is the same with our spiritual life. No matter how spiritual or how committed to God we think we are, we only grow in our faith when we step out to be stretched and used by God.
This week, I had a front row seat to a group of people ready to see God use them in new ways. The Woodside team, and many from the180, modeled what it means to get serious about doing God’s work in new ways.
Quebec remains one of the most paradoxical places to do ministry. A historical past shaped by the church and yet a present vacuum of people hungry for all things spiritual. The Woodside team quickly learned that the traditional mission trip paradigms are not going to work here. It’s more clear than ever that the secularized context of Quebec will require a new openness to the moving of God’s Spirit and fresh wisdom for how to make God’s Word come alive for people wounded by the church.
As the Pastor of the180, I was so proud of how sensitive the Woodside team was to these cultural challenges. It was such an encouraging reminder that our unique partnership is exactly what’s needed to see new and vibrant churches emerge all over the province of Quebec. We are already anticipating how God will use the seeds we’ve planted this week to give shape to new conversations requiring ‘out of the box’ opportunities for the future. It is with this hope that I leave you with Paul’s words to the church in Galatia. “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up”. Galatians 6:9
