“This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses. Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing.” Acts [2:32]-33
Think about the most wondrous things you’ve ever witnessed…the beauty in a sunset or the miracle of a brand new baby just born. Maybe the emotion of a movie, or a professional athlete at the top of their game! You get the picture.
Now, think about how much better these events would have been if shared with another person? Perhaps they were right next to you experiencing the glory together. Or maybe you only had the opportunity to share with them via a phone call, text, message, etc.
Wasn’t it exciting? We definitely go to crazy lengths for the people in our lives to help them feel what we feel and know what we know.
I wonder if it was anything like that for the disciples in this passage. The Bible says they were all “witnesses” to the resurrection of Christ, moved by the power of God, and given boldness from the Holy Spirit to stand up and tell the world what they experienced.
God had full knowledge and a deliberate plan for His Son to die and be raised to life. A deliberate plan to send His Spirit to those who believe, and to empower us with boldness and passion to go and tell the world of His love!
If there’s one thing we need to shout from the rooftops, it’s this story of redemption and the truth of God’s love for all mankind!
Holy Spirit, as I move through my week, please empower me with a fresh filling of boldness and courage to proclaim Your truth and love to those around me. Amen.
