“Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.” Acts [2:36]
Think about the people in your life whose voice holds the most authority.
What are the characteristics of such a person, and what are their qualifications? While it is common for a wide variety of people to move in and out of our lives, what is more uncommon are those whose influences we welcome as having merit. Allowing just anyone to have that type of power can be hazardous (and sometimes dangerous). We also need to be wise and discerning about the types of people we invite to impact us on deeper levels.
One such person for me is the Lord. As my time with God increases, so does His voice and influence in my life, causing me to become more like the man He truly desires me to be.
Here, Peter is essentially communicating the same thing. Due to God’s great influence in the lives of people, his use of language is both gripping and influential. He drives home the reality that Jesus has been chosen and appointed as both Lord & Christ by God!
Do you believe that Jesus is Christ the Lord? If so, how has this truth impacted the choices and decisions you make daily? How is this truth influencing your life today?
Lord, teach me to recognize Your voice in the midst of the world’s noise and distractions. Give me this day my daily bread, as You are my true sustainer. Holy Spirit, open my eyes and ears to daily opportunities to be Your hands and feet. Amen.
