The Parable of the Prodigal Father
Revealed: Week 2- Day 4
BIG IDEA: The Heart of the Father is a Heart for All
1The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
3He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
4Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
Three Questions for Consideration
With every biblical passage, there is much for the reader to consider—cultural context, people involved, location, and the message being communicated.
Once we’ve considered these foundational aspects of a biblical passage, we can move to personal application.
Allow the truth of Scripture to mold and shape our lives by considering the following:
UP: What does this communicate about the character of God?
IN: How does this encourage me to live in a relationship with the Family of God?
OUT: How does this influence me to intentionally live on mission and reach others with the Gospel?
