“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” – Ephesians [6:11]
Day nine marked our journey home from Rome. We spent some time in prayer as a team and thanked the Lord for our time in Rome, and prayed that he would watch over us on the trip home. At this point our team was physically, emotionally, and spiritually fatigued, and we knew we would require the Lord’s strength for the journey ahead of us. The enemy must have sensed that we were tired and weak as well, as the day was filled with an almost constant stream of obstacles and trials. We had members who were told that their carry-on bags were not acceptable, we had members pulled aside for additional security checks, we had flight delays and airplane problems which caused us to have to find a different flight back. We even had team members start to get sick. The issues seemed to be never-ending, and while our team was clearly worn out and exhausted, we clung to the Lord for strength and protection. Our team prayed together and had a powerful devotional in the airport. While the trip back was anything but easy, our team was determined to trust the Lord and his sovereignty over our journey. After a long 25 hours, our team finally made it back home safe and sound. We are thankful for the Lord for getting us back in one piece, and for the opportunity to flex and growth our spiritual muscles one more time as a team before we departed back to our normal lives. We are all forever changed because of this trip, and we pray that the spiritual lessons we learned stick with us always as we continue our mission for the gospel going forward!
