“Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.” Hebrews 13:4
Have you ever wondered what God’s will is for your life?
With all the choices and decisions to make in life, it can be challenging at times to know exactly what is God’s will. There is however, one area of life that God has explicitly made clear is His will. 1 Thessalonians 4:3 states “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality”.
The very thing that God wants us to abstain from seems to be accepted and condoned in increasing measure in our culture.
Ø Sexually immoral influences abound in our society!
Ø Pornography is just one click away on the Internet.
Ø Sexually explicit lyrics fill the radio waves.
Ø Extramarital sexual activity is prevalent in most popular movies and television shows.
The “will” of our culture wants us to believe that sexual immorality is acceptable, accessible, and comes without accountability. But living like our over-sexualized world means that we reject God.
We don’t like to hear the words “no” or “don’t”, but John Piper said, “Biblical prohibitions are intended to protect something precious not deny something pleasant”.
The will of God for your life and the will of our culture are in complete disagreement and each day you must choose which “will” you will follow.
Which will do you choose to follow?
God, thank you, that you have made your will known. Please help me to resist conforming to this world. Please continue to renew my mind so that I may follow your will.
