“Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.” 1 Peter [2:11]-12
“Raise your right hand. Do you promise to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?” We’ve seen this play courtroom display on television shows and movies for years. It’s the very foundation of a truthful testimony. And this testimony establishes, with great clarity, what has been seen, heard, or experienced.
As followers of Jesus Christ, the way that you and I live provides a testimony. It gives our family and friends the opportunity to see, hear, and experience the work of the Lord in our lives. We live as men and women who have been redeemed by Jesus! This means that we don’t live normal lives. Instead, our life is a moving picture of God’s work in us. Family and friends, neighbors and networks, they should see firsthand the impact that Jesus has had on our life.
Do others see Jesus at work in you and through you each day? What story is your life telling about God? Christians know the greatest story in human history—Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection. May our lives give testimony to this powerful reality each day.
Lord, thank you for Jesus and the redemption that I have in Him. Grant me courage to live my faith, and to tell others about the love and grace and mercy that I have experienced in Jesus. Amen.
