“And you shall be made to eat grass like an ox, and seven periods of time shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will.” Immediately the word was fulfilled against Nebuchadnezzar.” Daniel [4:32]-33
If you are panicking about the 2020 elections, then you are probably not trusting the One who rules over world events.
Nebuchadnezzar was the most powerful human leader of his time. He had become proud of his accomplishments in the Babylonian Empire. He declared that it was because of his own wisdom, power, and greatness that he had accomplished his exploits and established his reign. Through the prophet Daniel, God predicted that He would humble Nebuchadnezzar to show the world that it is God who rules over the affairs of humanity.
For 21st century believers, casting our vote is good stewardship of the freedom God has given us in our nation. We should carefully research the values, morals, and political positions of candidates, and then vote according to how God leads us. As we vote, we can trust that God has the final vote and ultimately rules over the process and the result of our election.
Does your level of anxiety suggest that you are wavering in your confidence that God is truly ruling? Today is the perfect time to renew your confidence that He will bring about His plan to bring Him the greatest glory.
Father, forgive me for worrying. You have given us numerous accounts in the Scriptures that reveal your sovereign control. Give me wisdom as I cast my vote and give me faith in your powerful authority over this election. Amen.
