Unshakable 3.13.18 {Ministry Through Unity}

April 16, 2015

Week 5 day 2

Scott Crosby

Ephesians 4:3-6

As Christians we often think of our purpose on earth in building God’s kingdom in the things we do and say for others. Paul shows us that beyond just building God’s kingdom through helping and healing others, the world will see the love of Jesus most in our life through unity. By loving one another and focusing on the one thing that binds us together, the world will see Jesus. Those who do not know Jesus will see Jesus most in your life, not only when you love them, but when you love your brothers and sisters in Christ and remain unified in Him. It is an amazing command that Paul shows us as Christians that we are called to live in unity.

One of the greatest ways the enemy attacks, isn’t just by getting us to “sin” while that is part of his scheme, it is to get the church divided. That is why Paul encourages us to maintain and pursue unity as Christians. It is why Paul says in 1 Corinthians that we have been given the ministry of reconciliation. It is why Paul reminds us that we must be quick to forgive.

God has made each of us in a unique way with preferences and opinions that differ from others. But what God has given us as Christians above all of those, is Christ. We can celebrate that we are a part of the body of Christ, called to Jesus by faith, baptized into His family, and can call God our Father as the family of God. How can you seek to be more unified to the people that God has placed you around in community today? Let’s put aside gossip, discouraging others, tearing each other down, and pursue unity today.
