JUNE 2024
WEEK ONE

Preteen

Joy is choosing to celebrate
what God is doing.

Bible Story

The Story of the Lost Sheep
Luke 15:1-7

What does joy mean to you?

MEMORY VERSE

“A cheerful heart makes you healthy. But a broken spirit dries you up.”

Proverbs 17:22, NIrV

Engagement Questions

  • What does joy mean to you?
  • When you think of Jesus as your shepherd, what comes to mind?
  • Name some large and small ways God is at work around us. How does that help you to have joy?

Prayer

“Dear God, thank You for being a good Shepherd, always watching over us. We know that when we go the wrong way, You come looking for us with love and joy in Your heart. Thank You for sending Jesus. Even when we make mistakes or feel lost, thank You that Jesus is there to guide us back to You. We love You and we pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

ENGAGE IN EVERYDAY MOMENTS TOGETHER

Morning Time

As your kid starts their day, tell them: “I’m so happy God made you. You bring me joy.”

Drive Time

While on the go, ask your kid: “Let’s go on a hunt today—let’s try to find people who are being joyful.”

Meal Time

At a meal this week, have everyone at the table answer this question: “What does joy mean to you?”

Bed Time

Pray for each other: “God, help us to be joyful—celebrating what You have done or are doing—even when we can’t see or understand.”
