where we’ve come from:

Woodside was founded in 1955 as the first evangelical church in Troy, MI. Fifty years later, Pastor Doug Schmidt (Woodside Senior Pastor, 1991 – 2019), prayerfully led us to merge with a struggling church in Warren to form Woodside’s second campus. Since that time, our Woodside Family has continued to grow through additional mergers and church plants throughout Southeast Michigan. Today, we are one family across 14 communities.

why we campus

At Woodside, we are committed to the belief that people everywhere desperately need Jesus. To live this out, we are dedicated to both:

  • Caring for our existing campuses.
  • Planting new campuses as beacons of the Gospel.

As we pray over the future of Woodside in Michigan, we believe it’s especially important to bring the Good News to the educational, political, and economic hubs of our state. These are places where ideas and mindsets are shaped within those who will one day lead our state, our nation, and our world.

Current Projects

At Woodside, we are dedicated to impacting up-and-coming leaders with the truth of Christ. As we continue to prayerfully pursue this vision, we believe that God is drawing the mission of our church family to the cities of Ann Arbor and East Lansing.

For more than 8 years, Woodside Chesterfield has lived out the Great Commission in a rented space. God is moving in Chesterfield, and we anticipate that our campus will continue to grow. As we shepherd an increasing number of people within our church family, we’re searching for a permanent church home in our community — one that will allow our campus to thrive as a beacon to our community.

Imagine a light so profound it has the power to transform the darkest corners of your life. Even in a world so full of hopelessness, such a light does exist — and He came to us 2,000 years ago in the form of a human child! The ancient prophecy found in Isaiah 9 describes how the radiance of the Messiah offers a beacon of hope and transformation!
