Student Ministry

who we are

At Woodside Students Ministry there are three things we want everyone who walks through our doors to know: You are loved. You are not alone. You were meant for more. Through worship gatherings, small groups, events, retreats, bible study, and opportunities to serve, our teenage students grow in their faith in God, connect with others, and impact their communities with the Gospel.

At Oasis, middle schoolers find belonging with other students, are poured into by leaders who love Jesus, and experience worship and teaching centered on God’s Word, the Bible.

Through large group teaching, small group community, youth Bible study, and unforgettable events, students encounter God’s truths and make friendships and memories that last a lifetime.

Through Wake, high schoolers experience large group worship and small group connection through Bible study and other activities that shape their walk with Christ, relationships with others, and desire to do incredible things for God’s Kingdom.

Teens find their identity in Christ and belonging in our church family, and they radiate His love to their peers and communities through serve opportunities.

As a parent, you’re the primary influence in your teen’s spiritual journey. As your church, we’re committed to come alongside you and champion your student as they grow into the man or woman God has created them to be.

We’re here with resources and encouragement for your family and look forward to partnering with you in showing your teen how loved and valued they really are.

FAQ

When do students gather? What do they do?

Middle school (Oasis) and high school (Wake) ministries meet weekly from fall to spring for times of worship, games, preaching, and prayer. We also break into small groups based on grade and gender, where we go deeper in discussion about the Bible and pray for one another. Select your campus to find out where and when teenage students gather each week.

What’s the structure of small groups?

Small groups are broken down by grade and gender. Each small group is guided by two or more volunteers who provide care and leadership for the students. Through youth Bible study, we go deeper in conversation about the Bible as well as our own lives and we’re purposeful about encouraging and praying for one another. Every small group leader is not only required to complete our Child Protection Program, which helps ensure the safety of your student, but is equipped and empowered with sound biblical training to help disciple your student as they look to learn more about God and live out their faith.

How do students get involved in a small group?

Head to the “New Here” area at your campus’ Student Ministry gathering and ask about getting plugged into a small group. We’ll be happy to connect you with your new group and leaders!

What retreats are available for students?

Our annual retreats for Woodside Students Ministry across all campuses take place at Timber Wolf Lake Lodge in Lake City, MI. From Friday evening to Sunday evening, we experience powerful worship and teaching, connect with other teenage students, and have way too much fun doing it! Our middle school retreat and high school retreat happen in the winter and early spring. Your teenage student won’t want to miss this incredible weekend!

What mission trips are available for students?

Locally, middle school and high school students have the opportunity to serve during Hope Week, a week-long summer mission trip that takes place mid-July. During Hope Week, we serve the communities of Pontiac, Detroit, Dearborn, and the greater Metro Detroit area. Globally, high school students have made an impact in Haiti, Thailand, and more!
